This workshop prepares participants to mentor beginning educators. This training is aligned with Maine's 10 Initial Teacher Certification Standards and Maine's Model of Beginning Teacher Induction.
The purposes of this training are to:
- Build and/or deepen the ability to prepare teacher mentors
- Enhance the ability to use the content of the three days of Maine’s Mentor Training and the processes that support that learning
- Enrich presentation and facilitation skills
- Qualify individuals to mentor beginning educators
- Build a common vision and sense of community among Maine’s teacher mentors
The applicant must have:
- A minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching
- Professional teacher certification status
- Desire to become a mentor for teachers who are new to the profession
- Recommendation of your building administrator

Participants will receive a full set of MDOE approved training materials.
Douglas and Shirley Spaulding taught at Sanford High School for 35 years. Both have a depth of experience as mentors including working with teachers for Brown University Elearn as Content Area Coaches, USM as ETEP Clinical Faculty, and are MDOE Certified Mentor Trainers.
