The Expressive Arts Therapies can be used to facilitate expression, build empathy, and enhance connection in counseling settings. This course will provide an introduction to the use of the expressive arts modalities within a range of counseling contexts, with an emphasis on dance therapy, art therapy, music therapy, and psychodrama. Students will be encouraged to investigate issues that arise through specific therapeutic applications. One direct observation of the application of the arts modalities will be required. The integration of several arts modalities will be explored, as this integration can be developed to best fit the needs of the client(s) involved.
