Current Status
Welcome
This web site will serve as the source of official information from the University to the entire University community before, during and after a pandemic influenza situation.
Our goal and commitment is to ensure that members of the University community have access to the latest information from primary sources regarding pandemic influenza, as well as access to official University information, including the current status of the University and instructions to employees and students on a variety of issues.
Although a variety of methods of communication will be implemented to communicate with the University community during the crisis, this web site will serve as the official site for posting the latest and most up to date information from the University. At the height of the crisis (USM Stage 4 and 5, see Grid) and in the Recovery Stage, it is anticipated that updates will occur at least daily. Please keep informed by continuing to check for updated information.
We believe that information is power; that if people are fully informed, they will be empowered to take actions that will afford them the best possible outcomes should there be a pandemic. Those actions include:
- Personally:
- Preparing themselves and their families
- Protecting themselves and their families
- Preventing illness
- Caring for themselves and their families if exposed or sick
- At Work:
- Providing essential functions as appropriate
- Being aware of opportunities to help out
…all with the confidence that full knowledge and thorough preparations can offer.
