PROTOCOL: For
Using Sterno or Related Products
Identified Hazard - exposed flame.
Scope: Using this product in USM buildings to maintain the warmth of hot dishes served at USM functions.
1. The area of the building where Sterno is used must be sprinkled.
2. To be kept away from combustible materials.
3. To be kept in a secondary container with some water.
4. Paper tablecloths are not permitted.
5. A fire extinguisher is to be in the immediate use area.
Alternative: When the above criteria cannot be met, one alternative is a hot water pan or dish.
