USM PROTOCOL - FALL ARREST SYSTEMS

Our protocol is as follows:

Purpose:

To protect from falling and from being injured by the force of a fall.

1. The system consists of an approved full harness and lanyard.

2. To be used only for fall protection. Provides employee protection for free fall distances of up to six feet.

Authorization of Usage:

1. Only USM trained employees are allowed to use arrest systems. Documentation of training is located in the office of Campus Environmental Safety & Health.

2. Refresher training is conducted annually.

Using the System:

1. Be sure the harness fits your body size.

2. Items used (harness, lanyards, etc.) are to be inspected before each use by the employee.

NOTE: If defective or in question, do not use; remove from service.

CAUTION: Keep away from abrasive surfaces, sparks, and temps over 180^oF.
