EMERGENCY SERVICE PROTOCOL: For Gorham Fire Department Standby

 

1.         Facilities Management initiates their permit form.

 

2.         FM calls USM Police Dispatch to notify work entry in a permitted space giving location, time of anticipated entry, expected work duration time and request for emergency rescue service standby.

 

3.         USM Police Dispatch calls Gorham Fire Department for standby availability:

                        Normal hours - 839-6762

                        Nights/Weekends - 839-5581

 

            NOTE:            When calling, indicate standby only.

 

4.         GFD will check to see if manpower is available for the time standby request.

 

5.         GFD will notify FM accordingly when service is available and when all lines of communication are open, confined space work can begin.

 

            NOTE:            If GFD can no longer provide their standby, team work by USM employees stops; employees immediately exit the space until a GFD team is available

 

6.         FM notifies USM Dispatch when the job is completed and standby service is no longer required.

 

7.         USM Police Dispatch notifies GFD that all work is complete and service is no longer needed.

 

EMERGENCY SERVICE PROTOCOL

FOR RESCUE

 

1.         FM (supervisor/attendant, etc.) calls USM Police Dispatch for immediate rescue by GFD.

 

2.         USM Police Dispatch calls GFD.

 

ALERT:          Only GFD is to enter any permitted space to perform entry rescue.
