2009 IRB Symposium Highlights

Event Details

The 2nd Annual Maine IRB Symposium was held on May 22, 2009 at the Abromson Center in Portland.  This event was coordinated and hosted by the USM Office of Research Compliance.  The event was organized by Jenni Hebert, and consisted of breakout sessions presented by ORC staff Lliam Harrison and Ross Hickey, Director of Human Research Affairs at Partners Healthcare System, Inc Pearl O'Rourke, and Maine Medical Center Research Institute IRB Chair Dr. Eric Larsen.  The keynote speaker was Michael Paasche-Orlow who is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Section of General Medicine at the Boston University School of Medicine. 

The event was well attended, with people coming from all over Maine as well as New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Illinois, and Pennsylvania.  The USM ORC has been recognized as a national leader in the field of human subject protection.  This symposium continued to cement that reputation in Maine.
