Off-Site Links Policy

University-recognized units with Web pages that are not hosted on a University server will be listed in the USM site directory with a link to the Off-Site Links Web page. The Off-Site Links page includes a short disclaimer informing visitors that they are seeking a site that is not hosted on a University server, along with a link to the actual site. The maintainers of these pages must also agree to add a link from their off-site pages back to the USM home page.

The policy was put into place to ensure easy access to information of use to the campus community, while at the same time informing those visitors that the rules that apply at the USM site (i.e., that USM is not collecting information about users and selling that information to anyone for marketing or other purposes) do not necessarily apply at the site they are seeking.
