From the Dean of Student Life
Dear USM Student:
Welcome to USM and the 2007-08 academic year! True to its name, the Navigator is a tool to help you find your way through USM, pointing you in the direction of complete information, rather than attempting to contain it all. We think you’ll find here what you need to help you access all the University resources available to support your success.
Please note that this is not a policy manual, but a handbook to help you find the policies and information you need. Policies specific to Residential Life can be obtained from that office (780-5240, www.usm.maine.edu/reslife) and the Conduct Code is available from the Office of Community Standards (780-5242, www.usm.maine.edu/ocs). Both are on the USM Web site. Other relevant policies and information are in the undergraduate and graduate catalogs.
In any case, on any subject, if you can’t find something you need, the answer to a question, or someone who can find it for you, please contact or visit our office in Portland or Gorham. We take special pride in finding answers to “unanswerable” questions, and we truly enjoy opportunities to meet and work with students. We work hard to provide support for your University experience, and we wish you every success on your academic journey at USM and beyond!
Cordially,
Joe Austin
