Lunch and Learn Professional Development Series 08/09
Muskie staff will work with Maine DHHS Office of MaineCare Services (OMS)senior management team to develop high priority
presentations of broad interest to OMS staff and delivered in a format that facilitates participation. Topics may include
recent research and policy initiatives under investigation in other projects of this agreement and/or other Maine related
research as well as topics conveying the larger Medicaid context. Deliverables include high-quality, tailored
presentations accessible to OMS staff and key stakeholders. In addition to enhancing organizational knowledge, the
series will also serve as a structure to enhance integration efforts.

In this policy brief, Dr. Andrew Coburn of the Muskie School discusses three of the main components of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA): health insurance coverage, delivery system improvement, and cost containment, highlighting some of the provisions of the law that have already been implemented and those where important implementation decisions will have to be made.
