Edward Reichert and Judith JamesEdward Reichert (accompanist) has been joyously unearthing and performing the Kurt Weill Songbook with Judith James for over 8 years. He was first introduced to Weill's music while under the tuteledge of Hugo Weisgall at the Aaron Copland School of Music (Queens College). Throughout his undergraduate years there, Ed worked as both a coach and stage director in the Opera Studio and Musical Theater Workshop. Off B'Way credits include Equity Library Theatre, Circle Rep, AMAS Musical Theatre, Chelsea Rep, and Riverside Shakespeare. He was employed with the NYC Board of Education as musical director/arranger for Talent Unlimited High School, one of three performing arts programs in Manhattan.

Highlights (while living in Maine) include: eleven seasons in residence at Maine State Music Theatre; conducting Evita with the Portland Symphony Orchestra featuring Andrea McArdle and Adrian Zmed; staging Titanic (Seacoast Repertory Theatre) and I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change (Ogunquit Playhouse); conducting She Loves Me (Walnut Street Theatre) and Grease (North Shore Music Theatre); producing the critically acclaimed Songbook Series at the Portland Museum of Art beginning in 1994.

Ed is a member of Actor's Equity Association and has appeared onstage as "Manny" in productions of Master Class opposite Lucie Arnaz (SRT), and Rosemary Prinz (Portland Stage Company). His continued collaboration with Marie Pressman took them to Eighty Eights in NYC with their gender-bending cabaret act Loved Her, Hated Him!, and to Corthell Hall and the LeFrak Concert Hall at Queens College with Maury Yeston's December Songs. He has been on staff at St. Joseph's College for the past six years directing their annual musical, and his production of Blood Brothers at UNH was one of six finalists in the New England Division of the ACTF Competition.

Ed is proud to be part of the faculty at USM and works as the vocal coach within the new musical theatre program. Upcoming: the Maine premiere of Songs For A New World (Corthell Hall, Nov. 23 & 24); The Frog Prince (UNH); Christmas Carol (PSC); Master Class (Florida Repertory Theatre); Cabaret (Russell Hall, March).
