Christine Kissack, piano pedagogy
Christine
joined the USM Department of Music adjunct faculty in the fall of 1999
and is the instructor of the new piano pedagogy program currently being
offered at USM. A native of Maine, Christine also maintains a
full-time
private piano studio in Falmouth.
Christine received a bachelors degree in Piano Performance from Plymouth State College in Plymouth, New Hampshire, and a masters degree in Piano Pedagogy from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She was a national winner of the D. H. Baldwin Teaching Fellowship Award recognizing excellence in piano teaching and is professionally certified by the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) and its affiliate the Maine Music Teachers Association (MMTA).
Her piano teaching experience spans 15 years and includes beginner, intermediate and advanced level students of all age groups. She has coached several students to success in local competitions and is frequently asked to adjudicate piano events in Maine and New Hampshire.
Christine studied undergraduate piano and piano pedagogy with Dr. Carleen Graff at Plymouth State College. At Southern Methodist University, she studied with Dr. David Karp and was mentored by the late Louise Bianchi.
