Michele Kaschub, Music Education
Michele Kaschub is an Associate Professor of Music at the University
of Southern Maine. She has presented workshops at the National Convention
of the Music Educators Conference on interactive choral rehearsal structures
and using composition as a teaching tool in the choral classroom.
This past summer, Michele authored the "Educators Guide" for "Music Maestro", a software program produced by Harmonic Vision of Chicago, Illinois. "Music Maestro" is a music theory and literacy program aimed at children in grades K-8. The program is the third in the "Music Ace" series and will be released in late September of this year.
Michele has published internationally with articles appearing in Research Studies in Music Education, the Choral Journal, the Music Educators Journal, and the Quarterly Journal of Music Teaching and Learning. A native of Maine, Michele completed her Bachelor of Science in Music Education at USM in 1990 and then taught vocal and general music in the public schools while finishing her Masters in Choral Conducting at the University of Maine. Michele's doctoral work studying children's compositional processes and products was completed in 1999 at Northwestern University where she studied with Bennett Reimer and Peter Webster.
