Keith Crook, classical guitar
Keith
Crook began his music studies in Barcelona, Spain where he studied guitar,
theory, and ear-training with Eduardo Sainz de la Maza. Jose Luis Lopategui,
and others over a period of seven years. With Baroque guitarist and vihuelist,
Luis Gasser he studied performance practices as they relate to realizing
this music on the modern guitar. In addition, Mr. Crook has worked and
played with Flamenco dancer Teresa Torkanowsky, formerly of the Flamenco
dance troupe Teresa and Luisillo. He continued his studies in the United
States obtaining a B.M. in Performance at the University of Southern Maine
where he studied with Neil Anderson and a M.M. in Performance at Boston
Conservatory where he studied with Robert Guthrie graduating "summa cum
laude" from both institutions. Mr. Crook is a Maine Touring Artist and
president of the Downeast Society for Classical Guitar. He is an instructor
at the University of Maine and the University of Southern Maine where he
teaches guitar.
