University of Southern Maine to Graduate Largest Class Ever

Actress Victoria Rowell will be the speaker at the 126th University of Southern Maine Commencement slated for Saturday, May 13. Rowell, recognized for her long-running role in the daytime drama "The Young and the Restless " will receive a Doctor of Humane Letters in recognition of her advocacy work with foster children and youth. Also receiving a Doctor of Humane Letters is Bob Ludwig of Gateway Mastering and DVD, one of the foremost audio mastering engineers in the music-recording world. Distinguished Achievement Awards will be presented to Madeleine Corson, former chair of Guy Gannett Publications, for her years of volunteer service to local organizations, and General Wallace Nutting, U.S. Army, retired, for his work with USM's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute.

USM serves some 11,000 students with campuses in Portland, Gorham, and Lewiston-Auburn. Nearly 1,500 students are expected to graduate this May.
