On Thursday, March 10, 2005, the USM Muskie School and Maine Women's Lobby will present the Women in Public Life Forum from 3 - 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn by the Bay, Portland.

In addition to a workshop on how to advance women's participation in public life, the forum features a memorial to the widow of Senator Edmund S. Muskie, the late Jane Muskie, who died in December. First Lady Karen Baldacci will narrate the presentation beginning at 5:30 p.m.

At 3:15 p.m., Skeek Frazee, communications director at Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, will receive the 2005 Women in Public Life Award for her career-long efforts in the fight against domestic violence and promotion of women's health. The award, inaugurated in 2001, provides statewide recognition for women's leadership and public action in the service of Maine's citizens.

At 6 p.m., Laura Liswood, a nationally recognized speaker, author, and advisor, will present the keynote speech. Liswood is secretary general of the Council of Women World Leaders, a group composed of women presidents, prime ministers, and heads of government.
