News ReleasesUSM to Host Wood Energy SeminarDecember 1, 2004 The University of Southern Maine Environmental Science and Policy Program and the TREE Foundation will offer a free seminar, "Tree Power: One Answer for a Sustainable Energy Future," from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, December 8, in the Woodbury Campus Center, Portland. With oil prices at record highs people are looking for cheaper, alternative ways to heat their homes. This panel will address the use of wood as a sustainable, alternative fuel source for heat. Panel members will include Robert Rice, professor of wood science at the University of Maine; David Field, chair of the Department of Forest Management, University of Maine; Eric Kingsley, Innovative Natural Resource Solutions, L.L.C.; and Eric Dumond, fuel procurement agent at Boralex, Inc. Maine TREE Foundation, is a private, non-profit independent foundation that provides environmental education using the forest as a focus. |
