News Releases8th Annual Gorham MarketplaceMarch 4, 2005 Members of the public are invited free of charge to the 8th annual Gorham Marketplace, an event designed to showcase the products and services available in the town of Gorham. The Gorham Marketplace will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, March 19, in the USM Field House, Gorham. The event, which is sponsored by the Gorham Business & Civic Exchange, draws some 3,000 citizens and 100 exhibitors from the profit and non-profit sectors. The Marketplace also includes a food court staffed by local restaurants; an entertainment stage featuring a range of local performers; a separate demonstration area; and a children's play area. The Gorham Recreation Department also will take advantage of the March date for summer baseball and softball sign ups. In addition to the products and services by some 100 Gorham vendors, the 2005 Marketplace will feature performances and demonstrations by the Dance Studio of Maine, the Greater Portland School of Jukado, Moody's Collision Center, the USM Chemistry Club, and the Gorham High School robotics team, among others. Other events scheduled during the day include a Red Cross blood drive; giveaways of smoke detectors and children's ID bracelets by the Gorham Fire and Police Departments; cash prizes courtesy of members of the Gorham Business & Civic Exchange; and a paper airplane contest hosted by Working Words & Graphics.
