News ReleasesUSM to Host First Annual ASET CampJune 24, 2005 USM's School of Applied Science, Engineering, and Technology (ASET) will host its first annual ASET camp for 15 seventh and eighth graders. Taught by USM professors from ASET and local area high school teachers, this resident camp is an exploration of science, engineering, and technology. The camp will be held Sunday, June 26 through Friday, July 1 on USM's Gorham campus in the newly-renovated John Mitchell Center. Each day, students will receive hands-on experience in the areas of environmental science, design/CAD, engineering, and automation/robotics, as well as field trips to further illustrate daily discussion topics. Some of the activities include testing water samples and surveying macro invertebrates of Alden Pond, located adjacent to USM's Gorham campus; use of computer-aided design (CAD) software to develop a three-dimensional graphic model; and construction of an electro-mechanical lifting device.
