USM President Joins New National Education Commission

University of Southern Maine President Richard Pattenaude
has been chosen to sit on the National Commission on Accountability
in Higher Education. Sponsored by the Ford Foundation and
the Association of State Higher Education Executive Officers,
the commission will study the effectiveness of using accountability
systems to enhance performance in higher education. The commission's
report will aid policymakers and educators in achieving their
state's educational goals. Other commission members include
former governors, legislators, as well as state higher education
executives, institutional, and business representatives.
