USM Sponsors "The Traumas of Law Enforcement"

The University of Southern Maine Police Department is hosting
the conference, "The Traumas of Law Enforcement," to be held
at Portland's Doubletree Hotel, 1230 Congress St., Monday
through Wednesday, March 24-26. Among the workshops presented
will be police victimization, support services to surviving
families, the traumatized officer, and suicide in law enforcement.
Presenters include Dr. Bobby Smith, executive director of
the Foundation for Officers Recovering from Traumatic Events
and a retired Louisiana State Trooper; the Rev. Robert Douglas,
executive director of the National Police Suicide Foundation
and former Baltimore (MD) City Police Officer; and a retired
agent from the Behavioral Science Unit of the FBI.
The course is designed for law enforcement officers and support
