Jefferson Awards Presented to Abraham Peck and Alan Bray
Two people with USM connections recently received Jefferson
Awards at a luncheon hosted by the Portland Press Herald/Maine
Sunday Telegram, ABC 8 WMTW and MaineToday.com.
Abraham Peck, the director of the Academic Council for Post-Holocaust
Christian and Jewish Studies at the University of Southern
Maine and a founding member of Interfaith Maine, will receive
the award for Cultural Diversity.
USM alumnus Alan Bray '71, a nationally recognized landscape
painter and advocate for the arts who organizes a monthly
coffeehouse series at the East Sangerville Grange, will receive
the award for Enrichment of the Arts.
The Jefferson Awards, founded in 1972, are based on the concept
that every individual can make a difference. The award highlights
that spirit of volunteerism and recognizes the vision and
actions of neighbors that improve the quality of life in Maine.
