CMTC and L-A College Complete Transfer Agreements
Central Maine Technical College (CMTC) and the University
of Southern Maine's Lewiston-Auburn College (LAC) have recently
updated and expanded their formal articulation agreements.
Under these agreements, students who complete an associate
degree in one of 12 different programs at CMTC can be accepted
with advanced standing at LAC.
These agreements not only facilitate the transfer of credits
from CMTC to LAC but also enable students to choose electives
at CMTC that will meet USM core curriculum requirements.
"We want to make the transfer process between our institutions
as simple and seamless as possible," said Roger Philippon,
assistant dean at LAC. "This is one more step in providing
an academic and career ladder for those students who wish
to further their education."
The two institutions also collaborate in offering a minor
in Information Systems to LAC students. LAC students take
three of the required courses for this minor, Networks I and
II and Introduction to PC Repair at CMTC.
"Since we already offer these courses as part of our degree
program in Computer Technology, it makes sense for us to make
them available to LAC students who wish to complete this minor,"
said Pat Vampatella, dean of academic affairs at CMTC. "We
are always looking for ways to work together to expand educational
opportunities."
