USM’s Summer Music Offerings

The University of Southern Maine School of Music is offering students in grades K-12 the chance to sharpen their instrumental skills through a series of summer music camps.

Below is a listing of the offerings:

* Youth Band Day Camp (Incoming 5th and Outgoing 6th Graders)
The session runs from June 23-27. This music camp offers students a chance to sharpen their musical reading ability, instrumental skills, and concert band performance. Students have played an instrument for at least a year.

* Junior Music Academy (For Junior High Students)
The session runs from July 13-19. This program for junior high-age instrumental musicians offers the opportunity to participate in concert band, chorus, and small ensembles, or jazz band (optional).

* Music Academy (For High School Students)
The session runs from July 5-13. This nine-day program gives high school musicians  intensive group and individualized instruction. All academy members will participate in concert band and small ensembles, or jazz band (optional).

* String Academy (Ages 10-18)
The Session runs from July 26 - August 1. Students will have the opportunity to rehearse and perform with the academy accompanist.
