USM Presents an Evening of Storytelling

April 30, 2008

University of Southern Maine "Evenings at Abromson" continues with “Childhood Revisited: An Evening of Storytelling” at 7 p.m., Thursday, May 8, in USM’s Abromson Community Education Center, Portland.  Parking is available in the attached garage.

The evening features Deborah Freedman telling her version of J.M. Barrie's beloved “Peter Pan,” and Michael Parent, who grew up in the Franco-American community of Lewiston, telling “A Beautiful Game,” the mostly true story of his lifelong connection to the game of ice hockey. Storyteller Lorna Stengl will host this collaboration as fairy tale and childhood memory illuminate each other. Peter Pan wants to enjoy the adventure of childhood forever. A man in his sixties is still lacing up his skates and hitting the ice.

Admission is $15 public and $10 for USM students, staff and OLLI members. Tickets are available http://www.usm.maine.edu/cce or at the door.

For more information, call Molly A. Morell at 780-5931 or mmorell@usm.maine.edu.
