Author of “Sundays in America: A Yearlong Road Trip in Search of Christian Faith” reading at USM

April 3, 2008

Suzanne Strempek Shea will be reading from her new book, “Sundays in America: A Yearlong Road Trip in Search of Christian Faith” at 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 7, in USM’s Portland Bookstore in Woodbury Campus Center. The reading is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Barbara Kelly (207) 780-4072 or bkelly@usm.maine.edu.

The book chronicles her yearlong pilgrimage through 50 Christian churches and is a soulful account of the myriad incarnations of Christianity in America today.  Books will be available for purchase and signing.

Shea teaches in USM’s Stonecoast Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing, a low-residency program that gives students flexibility in pursuing graduate work by requiring attendance at two, 10-day residencies per year for two years taught by a faculty of nationally known creative writers.  Students are also required to complete four semesters of long-distance work with a faculty mentor/writer. She is the author of five novels, including “Selling the Lite of Heaven.”
