News ReleasesUSM Professor named International Fellow in Behavior Analysis June 16, 2008 USM Professor of Human Resource Development F. Charles Mace of Portland was installed as an International Fellow in Behavior Analysis at the Association for Behavior Analysis International Annual Convention in Chicago in May of 2008. Mace was recognized for his outstanding contributions to research and scholarship in the field of behavior analysis. Before coming to USM, Mace taught at Lehigh University, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, and Rutgers University and he spent several years at the University of Wales in Bangor (UK). He was elected president and chair of the board of directors for the Society for the Experimental Analysis of Behavior (SEAB) at the 2007 ABA International convention held in San Diego, and will serve as the president until 2009. SEAB’s mission is to promote the advancement of the science of behavior through publication of the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis and the Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior. “Professor Mace’s recognition as an International Fellow is a high honor and an indication of the significance of his contributions to the field of behavior analysis. We are fortunate to have Professor Mace at USM and are proud of his accomplishments,” said Dean Betty Lou Whitford. In his work at USM, he developed a partnership between USM and Providence of Maine to operate ACHIEVE!, a day treatment program for children with moderate to severe behavioral and emotional disorders. ACHIEVE! operates as a clinical training program for doctoral students in which they design and implement behavioral supports that promote children’s success in regular educational environments.
