WMPG’s 13th Annual Fat Tuesday Celebration Slated for February 5 January 17, 2008 WHAT: 13th Annual WMPG Fat Tuesday Celebration & Cajun Cooking Challenge WHEN: Tuesday, February 5, 2008, from 12 p.m.-5 p.m. WHERE: USM’s Woodbury Campus Center, Portland campus (Bedford Street) PRESS INQUIRIES: Dale Robin Lockman (207) 780-4151, development@wmpg.org WHY: WMPG has hosted this late-winter party since 1994 as a way to celebrate Mardi Gras with our volunteers and listeners. The emphasis is on food and music, not fund-raising. We exist thanks to the financial support we receive from listeners and the hard work of our volunteers. This is our way of thanking them. On February 5, we will be broadcasting Mardi Gras and Carnival music from all over the world from the site of the celebration, USM’s Woodbury Campus Center. All of our listeners, supporters and USM students and staff are invited to attend, sample area chefs’ New Orleans style cooking, and vote for their favorite. Last year’s party drew more than 500 revelers. HOW TO GET INVOLVED: Any restaurant, individual, or organization is welcome to enter the New Orleans Cooking Challenge with a minimum donation of ten gallons of Cajun food. However, those interested in winning the contest are advised to provide a enough food to ensure availability for the duration of the judging period, noon-4pm. There is no monetary fee to enter the Cajun Cooking Challenge. All entries must be pre-cooked and delivered by 11a.m. It is recommended that you staff the table from 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Entrants are welcome to bring banners and promotional materials (flyers, paper menus, etc.). Winners will be announced on-air at 5pm. Registration closes Friday, February 1. Contact Dale Robin Lockman at 780-4151 for questions or to register. You can register by e-mail at development@wmpg.org
