WMPG Presents Panel Discussion on Diversity and Discrimination

November 29, 2007

WMPG, USM’s greater Portland community radio station, is presenting a live, moderated panel discussion in which people from various ethnicities and cultures will talk about their experiences. The event will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on Sunday, December 9, in the Luther Bonney Hall's Talbot Auditorium on USM's Portland campus. It will also be broadcast live at 90.9 and 104.1 FM, as well as online at www.wmpg.org during the Mama Africa Show; a weekly show which airs 12 to 2 p.m. Sundays. The Mama Africa Show showcases traditional African music and it’s influence.

The participants in the panel discussion will speak on what they value, what they find challenging or difficult about their ethnicity while living in the U.S., and what words or actions they have experienced which they never want to have repeated. The purpose of the event is to foster open discussion, mutual understanding and respect.

This live panel discussion is free and open to the public. It will also be audio archived online within a week after the show on WMPG’s Web site at www.wmpg.org.
