Shakespeare Revises “Hamlet" February 1, 2008 Steven Urkowitz, professor of English and theater at City College of New York, will present a free public talk of interest to all Shakespeare fans. “Ethel the Pirate’s Daughter? Shakespeare Revises ‘Hamlet’” is scheduled for 4:15 p.m., Wednesday, February 6 in the University Events Room of USM’s Glickman Family Library, Portland. For more information about this talk, please contact Richard H. Abrams, associate professor of English, at 780-4314. Acorn Shakespeare Ensemble will present “Hamlet” at 7 p.m., Tuesday, February 12, in USM’s Talbot Lecture Hall, Portland. For more information about Acorn Shakespeare Ensemble, see Steven Urkowitz recently retired to Portland after a successful career of university teaching and directing in New York City. Currently, he is finishing a book on Shakespeare’s revisions of additional plays including “Romeo and Juliet” and “Hamlet” and a biography of actress and acting teacher Uta Hagen. He has lectured on editing, teaching and acting Shakespeare throughout the U.S., Canada and Europe.
