News ReleasesCTEL Sponsors Lectures for Faculty on e-Learning October 3, 2006The newly formed Center for Technology-Enhanced Learning (CTEL) is responsible for increasing our distance education offerings and enrollments. This month, CTEL will be offering a series of lectures so that faculty can learn more about e-learning. Professor Ray Schroeder, USM's Visiting Scholar for Online Learning, will present best practices in synchronous online learning, the technology that enables real-time, and recorded exchanges among students and faculty. Discussions will be held on ways these technologies may complement those available in Blackboard. Ray's presentations will be held from 12 noon to 1 p.m., Wednesday, October 11, in Room 170 at Lewiston-Auburn College; 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., Thursday, October 12 in Room 233 of the John Mitchell Center, Gorham; and 2 to 3 p.m., Thursday, October 12, in Room 215 of the Abromson Community Education Center, Portland. The Faculty Senate will be hosting a town hall devoted to e-learning. For your planning purposes, it will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, November 17, in the Talbot Lecture Hall, Luther Bonney Hall, Portland.
