News ReleasesMaine Law Announces the Orlando Delogu Earth Day 5-K Saturday, April 21, 2007 March 29, 2007 CONTACT: Elizabeth Raffaele, eraffaele@usm.maine.edu, 207-228-8411 PORTLAND- The University of Maine School of Law Alumni Association and the Law School’s Environmental Law Society (ELS) will hold the Orlando Delogu Earth Day 5 K, on Saturday, April 21, 2007. This year’s road race will begin at 10 a.m. (registration at 8:30 a.m.) at the soccer fields of Back Cove Trail/Baxter Blvd. Following the race, there will be a program including food, speakers, music (a local blue grass band), and a raffle, at the Law School. The race is named after Maine Law Professor and avid runner Orlando Delogu, who organized the event for many years. Registration is open to the public. The proceeds from the ELS and Alumni Association event will fund an ELS fellowship or grant for a Maine Law student to pursue work in environmental law. The first 150 racers will receive T-Shirts. The ELS and the Alumni Association are also looking for sponsorships as well as volunteers to help with the race. The cost of registration is $15 in advance and $18 the day of event. For students, the fee is $12 in advance and $15 the day of event. Participants can register online at http://www.mainelawalum.org/elsroadrace before April 18.
