Research on View

Public attitudes about terrorism, environmental influences on asthma, images of New England’s Maritime History, and 60 other examples of faculty and staff collaborations in scientific research, social science, history and the arts at the University of Southern Maine will be displayed and celebrated during a day of poster presentations, Thursday, April 18, from 1 to 4 p.m. in the Sullivan Gym on USM’s Portland campus.

The Student Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works Day is designed to give a sampling of the variety of research and creativity that students and faculty work on together at USM. Other presentations range from such scientific topics as levels of dietary iron in female athletes, sexual dysfunction caused by environmental toxins, genetic damage in Androscoggin River fish, body mass and vertical jump in basketball players to work in the humanities, such as “The Forgotten History of Scotch Hill,” costume design by students, and a student-created short film.

The event is sponsored by USM’s Office of the Provost, the College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Nursing and Health Professions. For more information, contact Susan Vines, associate professor of nursing, at 780-4108.
