Muskie School to Offer Certificate Program in Child and Family Policy and Management

The Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service at the University of Southern Maine has announced a new Certificate in Child and Family Policy & Management beginning with the 2002 fall semester. The Certificate is designed for child and family professionals, children's advocates, teachers, justice system personnel and policy makers seeking greater skills related to child and family policy and management.

"Today's increasingly complex social problems require leaders with advanced management skills who can develop sound public policies and effective programs," says Karl Braithwaite, Dean of the Muskie School of Public Service. "This Certificate will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to affect change, guide policy, and manage programs serving children and families."

To earn the Certificate, students must complete four courses (12 credits) in a combination of management and policy graduate courses related to child and family issues. For further information on the Certificate Program, application materials and course schedules, please contact Carlene Goldman, Coordinator for Student Affairs, 207-780-4188, cgold@usm.maine.edu. Application information is also available at: www.muskie.usm.maine.edu.
