Muskie School to Offer Certificate Program in Child and
Family Policy and Management
The Edmund S. Muskie School of Public Service at the University
of Southern Maine has announced a new Certificate in Child
and Family Policy & Management beginning with the 2002 fall
semester. The Certificate is designed for child and family
professionals, children's advocates, teachers, justice system
personnel and policy makers seeking greater skills related
to child and family policy and management.
"Today's increasingly complex social problems require leaders
with advanced management skills who can develop sound public
policies and effective programs," says Karl Braithwaite, Dean
of the Muskie School of Public Service. "This Certificate
will provide students with the knowledge and skills needed
to affect change, guide policy, and manage programs serving
children and families."
To earn the Certificate, students must complete four courses
(12 credits) in a combination of management and policy graduate
courses related to child and family issues. For further information
