New USM Board of Visitors Members Named
Five business and community leaders, Steven Clossen, president and CEO of Androscoggin Savings Bank; Michael Dubyak, president of Wright Express; Andrew W. Green, executive vice president of Banknorth Group; Steven Thaxton, president and general manager of Gannett Broadcasting; and Bradford Wise, senior vice president of Human Resources for Hannaford Brothers and USM alumni; have been named to the University of Southern Maine's Board of Visitors.
The Maine Legislature in 1997 authorized each of the seven institutions within the University of Maine System to form its own advisory board to advocate for the institution, advise the president on community and campus needs, and review new programs and other proposals before they are submitted to the University of Maine System Board of Trustees.
USM's Board of Visitors consists of 15 members, drawn from the business, legal, and education communities of southern Maine. Membership to the BOV is for a three-year term, with a maximum of two terms. About half of the group are alumni of USM's undergraduate or graduate programs.
