WMPG Airs Health Messages for Immigrant Communities Health messages are developed through focus groups consisting of members of the Somali, Khmer, Russian, and Spanish communities. Topics include nutrition, secondhand smoke, poisons in the household, prenatal care, passenger safety, and dental care. The program, which began in September, was developed by WMPG producer Rob Rosenthal and WMPG volunteer and registered nurse Kristina Truesdale. Crossing Borders is part of Sound Partners for Community Health, a program of the Benton Foundation, funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation which is dedicated to improving health and health care for all Americans.
