USM Associate Provost

The USM Board of Trustees has approved Judy Tizon as the new associate provost for undergraduate programs.

Tizon, who will begin August 1st, holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and has served USM for many years, most recently as associate professor of anthropology. She began her faculty status at USM in 1972 as an instructor.

The position of associate provost involves working with deans and program directors to develop and implement policies for undergraduate degree programs, serving on the provost’s academic council and senior staff, and representing USM in appropriate University of Maine System matters related to undergraduate programs and instruction.
She makes her home in Cape Elizabeth.
