USM Athletic Trainer Heads to Olympic Training Center Jay Myers, of Gorham, will be working with Olympic athletes who are now training for the Winter Games. Myers applied for the volunteer service some five years ago and will head out soon for his first two-week rotation. After evaluation by the full-time Olympic staff, Myers hopes eventually to be named to other rotations and/or to facilitate a team or venue for the Olympic Games. Myers holds a masters degree, is ATC (Athletic Trainer,
Certified), and CSCS (Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist)
certified. He has been with USMs Sports Medicine Dept. for two years
working with womens volleyball, cross country and track teams, and
mens lacrosse. He has been a professional athletic trainer for some
10 years. For more information about this fellowship or the Muskie School, contact Andrew Coburn at (207) 780-4435.
