USM Lifeline Programs Recognized by Governor

USM’s Lifeline Center was recently cited for excellence by Governor Angus King during the “Contest for Communities” for two special program awards:

  • the USM Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program won the “Special Populations” category; and
  • the USM Senior Fitness Program won the “Senior” category.

The contest was sponsored by the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sport to recognize unique fitness and activity programs from across Maine.

The Pulmonary Rehabilitation Program is a specialized exercise program designed for individuals with various types of chronic lung disease. Nursing supervision is provided for all classes. The Senior Fitness Program offers 45-minute exercise classes for those 60 years of age or older.

For more information on these awards, or Lifeline’s other programs, call 780-4170 or email Tom Downing at <downing@usm.maine.edu>.
