Lecture on Maine Fossils

Lisa Churchill-Dickson, vice president of the Geological Society of Maine, will give a free public lecture on "An Introduction to Maine's Fossil Record" at 7 p.m., April 6, in the Faculty Dining Room of Brooks Student Center, on the Gorham campus of the University of Southern Maine.

Churchill-Dickson’s lecture is part of the spring meeting of the Geological Society of Maine, taking place at USM on April 6. Beginning at 2 p.m. in the lobby of Bailey Hall on the Gorham Campus, student oral and poster sessions on recent geological research will be presented. Poster sessions are open to the public.

Churchill-Dickson is a 1992 graduate of Colby College, and received her M.S. in Geosciences (specialized in paleontology) from University of Michigan. She has worked as an environmental project manager at MDOT, while continuing to conduct and present independent paleontological research.

She is currently working as a consulting paleontologist and has a contract with the Maine Geological Survey to produce a book on Maine's fossil record, which will be published in 2002.
