Economic Forecast for Maine, 2001

Charles Colgan, professor of public policy and management in USM’s Muskie School, will give a series of presentations this month to unveil his economic forecast for Maine in the coming year. The first of these is scheduled for Thursday, January 11 at a breakfast meeting with members of USM’s Corporate Partners, a support group for USM consisting of more than 125 area business people. A former state economist, Colgan now chairs the Maine Consensus Economic Forecasting Commission, which prepares an economic outlook report for state budget preparation. Colgan will share his predictions for 2001, based on his analysis of employment trends, income, retail sales and a range of other indicators.
