Each year at Commencement, the University recognizes the
significant accomplishments and contributions of individuals
through the presentation of honorary doctoral degrees and
distinguished achievement awards.
This year's recipients of the Distinguished
Achievement Award are :
Tom Allen, U.S. congressman
Tony Shalhoub, actor and USM alumnus
Tim Wilson, director, Seeds of Peace Camp
Those awarded emeriti status are:
John W. Bay, associate professor of economics
Dave D. Davis, professor of anthropology emeritus
Susan W. Vines, associate professor of nursing
William G. Mortensen, executive director of USM Extension
