MARGARET A. BROWN, director of Planned Giving/major
gifts officer, received the professional designation of Certified
Fund Raising Executive from Certified Fund Raising Executive
International.
SUSAN CAMPBELL, executive director of Advising and
Academic Resources, was selected to receive the Service to
Commission Award by the Advising Administration Commission
as part of the 2003 National Academic Advising Association's
(NACADA) National Awards Program. She will receive the award
during the annual NACADA National Conference held in Dallas,
Tx., this October.
MICHAEL S. HAMILTON, associate professor of political
science, conducted a half-day workshop on "The Role of Document
Review in the Environmental Assessment Process" for a visiting
delegation of Indonesian government officials at the U.S.
Department of the Interior, Office of Surface Mining Reclamation
and Enforcement, in Washington, D.C., this May.
DAVID HARTLEY, director of the Rural Health Research
Center and associate research professor of health policy and
management, received the Distinguished Researcher Award at
the 26th annual conference of the National Rural Health Association,
held this May in Salt Lake City.
JANE KIRSCHLING, dean, College of Nursing and Health
Professions, was one of two new members selected to serve
on the Board of Directors of the American Association of Colleges
of Nursing earlier this year.
CARTER MANNY, associate professor of business law,
attended a conference on the collection and production of
evidence in cybercrime cases at the Law School of the University
of Namur, Belgium, during May of this year.
PETER MARTIN, professor of music, and guest conductor
of the Italian Heritage Band, was honored by the band during
its May 4 concert for his contribution to music in the state
of Maine.
MARTIN ROGOFF, professor of law, had his most recent
article, "One, Two, Three, Four, Five and Counting: A Sixth
French Republic?" accepted for publication by the Columbia
Journal of European Law, scheduled for publication this fall.
JOHN WATERS, grounds supervisor, Facilities Management,
received a 2002 Project Canopy grant from the Department of
Conservation's Maine Forest Service and the Pine Tree State
Arboretum at the annual Maine Arbor Week celebration on May
21 in Augusta.
