Classified and Professional Senators Elected

Executive Committees Named

The Classified Staff Senate held elections at the end of the spring 2006 semester. Eight newly elected senators assumed their terms at the June 21 meeting, at which the executive committee was elected.

Pauline Pierre, LAC, and Alex Pufhal, USM Police Department, Gorham, return to the senate until their terms expire in June 2007. Newly elected senators, whose terms will expire June 2008 are: Heather Monroe, Child and Family Centers, Portland; Donna Dunbar, Office of Undergraduate Admission, Gorham; Cindy DeCosta, Student Billing, Portland; Vernon Tarbell, University Bookstores, Portland; Emily MacWilliams, Student Payroll, Gorham; Gretchen Hardy, Campus Diversity and Equity, Portland; Barbara Hall, Facilities Management, Gorham; and Sharoo Wengland, Division of University Advancement, Portland.

Executive committee members are: Alex Pufhal, chair; Heather Monroe, vice chair; Cindy DeCosta; Pauline Pierre and Donna Dunbar, co-secretaries; and Barbara Hall, voting commissioner.

The Professional Staff Senate (PROSEN), also held elections. Senators serving terms expiring in 2007 are David Crumb, computer applications development manager, CIO, at-large, Portland; Claire Hassler, manager, Benefits and Injury Management, at-large, Gorham; Marjorie Jarry, assistant to the director of Undergraduate Admission, at-large, Gorham; Sheera LaBelle, professional nurse, representing Student and University Life; Terri Pelletier, director of administration, representing LAC; Suzanne Roy, coordinator, USM Health Promotions, representing Academic Affairs; Patti Volland, coordinator of fellowships and office management, Art Department, at-large, Gorham; Colleen White, associate director, University Bookstores, representing Finance and Administration; Emily Hallett, adaptive technology specialist, IT User Services, representing Information and Technology; and Thomas Wood, director of operations, Reasearch Administration, Research Initiatives, representing Academic Affairs. Newly elected senators whose terms expire in 2008 are Janis Burton, academic advisor and coordinator of New Student Advising and Registration, representing Enrollment Management; Susan Cota, travel coordinator, Business Services, representing Finance and Administration; Michelene Decrow, administrative manager, Law Library, representing Academic Affairs; Christine Hepler, interim director, Law Library, atlarge; Stephen Houser, director of database and software development, University Computing Technologies, representing Information and Technology; Eric James, financial specialist, Muskie Institute for Public Sector Innovation, representing Student and University Life; Melanie Race, administrative manager, representing the Muskie School; and Tracee Patterson Falconer, policy associate, Child and Family Institute, representing the Muskie School.

Executive committee members for the 06-07 year are: Thomas Wood, chair; Colleen White, vice chair, and David Crumb and Sheera LaBelle, co-secretaries.

The Faculty Senate executive committee is beginning the second year of a two-year term with Dahlia Lynn, associate professor of public policy and management, serving as chair, Tom Parchman, associate professor of music, as vice chair, and Nancy Bouzrara, associate professor of French, as secretary.
