C. Jon Delogu is a visiting professor at USM in 2012-2013. He grew up in Portland, Maine and graduated from PHS in 1981 before attending Dartmouth College and Yale University (Ph.D. comparative literature, 1991). For the last twenty years he has lived and worked in France teaching mostly English, literature, and American history at French state universities in Aix-en-Provence, Toulouse, and Lyon. He has published essays on a wide range of literary topics (poetry, the grotesque, Jane Austen) and about higher education in the humanities. He has also translated five books for Columbia University Press and published an introduction to Emerson in French (2006). He recently completed a manuscript on "Tocqueville and Democracy in the Internet Age." Coming to USM is part of his periodic return to American academia. He has also been a visiting professor at Dartmouth College (2008-2009, 2000), Boston University (2004-2005), and Hampshire College (2000).
