A. Learning Objectives
At the end of this block of instruction the students will be able to:
- Describe the Gulf Stream in terms of (speed, direction, temperature)
- Explain why the Gulf Stream follows the path it does
- Explain how Benjamin Franklin charted the Gulf Stream
- Given temperature readings and coordinates students will correctly plot the Gulf Stream on a map
F. The Earth
Students will gain knowledge about the earth and the processes that
change it. Students will be able to:
Elementary Grades 3-4
2. Demonstrate an understanding that many things about the earth (e.g.,
climate) occur in cycles that vary in length and frequency.
4. Illustrate how water and other substances go through a cyclic process
of change in the environment.

A. Skills and Tools
Students will know how to construct and interpret maps and use globes
and other geographic tools to locate and derive information about people,
places, regions, and environments. Students will be able to:
Middle Grades 5-8
2. Develop maps, globes, charts, models, and databases to analyze geographical
patterns on the earth.
