1925 1926 1927 1928 1929 1925 Beatrice Farwell Spiller 19261927Welcome to the 75th reunion year of the Gorham Normal School class of ’27! Imagine...three-quarters of a century! Think of the number of children influenced by just our one class over the years. From our class of 148, we have been able to locate all but seven members. During the past three years while serving as your class agent, I have been touched by the many notes, cards, and phone calls and have much enjoyed hearing from many of you. Mary Wildes Firth, of Kennebunkport, reports that she is doing well and looks forward to another visit in the spring. Lunch dates were pending with Dorothy Westman Abbott, of Boothbay Harbor, Dorothy Rice Booth, of East Boothbay, and with Robert Smith, of Westbrook, the son of the late Wilma Eaton Smith. We fondly remember the campus with its three buildings—Corthell, East, and Robie—and the fun we had together. Today’s campus seems immense and quite beautiful with its brick walkways, granite benches, and attractive light posts. Many mind-boggling changes have taken place. Thus, it seems time for our class to quietly take its honored place within University history. And it is time for me to retire as our class agent. This is the last column I will write. But, before signing off, I want to thank all of you, your family and friends, who helped by locating classmates, responded to requests for news, and arranged lunch dates and visits. Editor’s Note: These notes were written by long-time Class Agent Ruth Jordan Ames, who passed away January 23 soon after submitting these notes. 1928Elinor Stimson 1929 |
