The torrential downpour did not dampen the spirits of those who attended the 2004 USM Homecoming in September.
Members of reunion year classes, 2004 graduates, and retired faculty enjoyed a champagne brunch hosted by the Alumni Association and sponsored by the University Credit Union and Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. Graduates of USM predecessor schools, Gorham Normal School and Gorham State Teachers College, enjoyed an afternoon tea hosted by the Gorham Alumni Association.
The USM Concert Band, conducted by USM music professor Peter Martin, moved their concert inside to Brooks Dining Center to the delight of the many people who had come just for the thrill of hearing the band.
Sigma Nu Fraternity held a barbecue to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the chapter house. Many Sigma Nu alumni, their families, and friends attended.
In the evening, music lovers were enthralled by the performance of Jennifer DeDominici '00, mezzo-soprano, at Corthell Concert Hall. Students and alumni danced the night away at the Homecoming dance held at Brooks Student Center. The Greek Life Alumni Council and the USM Alumni Association sponsored the dance.
Others special activities included sporting events, the Husky Hall of Fame Banquet, a sunset service of remembrance, a faculty art show, comedy and family shows, and a tea to honor former professor John Mitchell.
