He co-edited the book, Left of the Color Line: Race, Radicalism, and Twentieth-Century Literature of the United States, with Bill V. Mullen, which was published in Nov. 2003 by the University of North Carolina Press. The book is a collection of 15 essays exploring the impact of the organized Left and Leftist theory on American literature and culture from the 1920s to the present. James is also the author of The New Red Negro: The Literary Left and African-American Poetry, 1930-1946. 1981 William O. Lenihan Jr. Gina M. Clark, tour operator and innkeeper, has been appointed to serve on the board of the Aroostook County Tourism Association. 19821983Sanford J. Prince IV became the superintendent of Windham Schools in 2003. He formerly worked as director of education planning for the Portland School Department. He received a degree in education from the University of Maine at Farmington and then worked for the Windham School Department as a special education teacher. He stayed there until 1985, receiving a master's degree in education from USM in 1983. Sanford later served as a principal of the Kindergarten Center in Gorham, and as principal at both White Rock Elementary School and Shaw Middle School. He and his wife, Susan, have three children, Jennifer, Clark, and Jack. 1984Sharon G. Widger Betsey Greenstein, president of Fleet Maine for the last five years, has been named president of Bank of America Maine. Bank of America merged with FleetBoston earlier this year. “As she demonstrated in her role as Maine president for Fleet, Betsey Greenstein will be a champion for customers and communities across the state,” noted Anne Finucane, the Northeast president for Bank of America. “Her history of community involvement and extensive knowledge of customer needs makes Greenstein the right leader to be stepping into this critical role.” Betsey is a board member of the Maine Mentoring Partnership and the Maine Bankers Association. She is also active as a volunteer for Well Suited, Inc., the AIDS Project, and the YWCA's Women of Achievement program. 1985Paul DiMatteo, president of Maine Memorial Company in South Portland, was featured in a Maine Sunday Telegram story that spotlighted his job as a third generation stone cutter or “memorial artist.” He is the only certified memorialist in Maine, and one of only three in New England. Paul has been working in the field since taking over his family's business in 1988. He designs, carves, and engraves lettering and designs on finished pieces of granite and marble, a skill he learned from his father and grandfather. In the article, Paul noted that: “I'm not unlike an artist, but my gallery is a cemetery, where each piece of art tells something about an individual who has lived and walked amongst us.” 1986 Michael E. Profenno Michael J. Theriault is living in Vermont and is married with two boys, who are 6 and 3 years old. He works for Liberty Mutual as a manager of training and development. He completed his M.B.A. in the summer of 2003 at Norwich University. 1987 Elizabeth M. Higgins 1988John Henderson, of Dover-Foxcroft, graduated from Maine Maritime Academy with an M.S. in logistics management. His capstone project applied logistics and supply chain management concepts to nonprofit volunteer development and retention. During the summer, he participated in the Maine Humanities Council's Views of the East program, an intensive seminar on the history and culture of China, Japan, and Korea.
