Andrea Stairs is assistant professor of literacy education at the University of Southern Maine, where she teaches graduate courses in literacy and English as a Second Language. Prior to joining the USM faculty in 2009, Andrea was assistant professor of English education at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
A former literacy coach in Massachusetts, high school teacher in Colorado, and middle school teacher in New Hampshire, Andrea is a Maine native who earned her B.A. at Colby College, and her M.Ed. and Ph.D. at Boston College. Her current scholarly interests include urban teacher learning over time, choice in the English language arts/reading curriculum, and teacher research in literacy.
